Not to be confused with permanent straightening, this treatment won’t permanently straighten your hair and make it poker-straight, but what it will do is improve the natural condition of your hair, leaving it smoother, silkier, frizz-free and easier to manage. So if you’re happy with your curls but want to reduce the frizz and loosen the texture a bit, this is the treatment for you.

After this service you will find that your hair will dry beautifully when left natural or when dried with a drier.

How does it work?

Keratin is the naturally occurring protein in your hair, but this can be lost over time with use of sulphate-based hair products and some styling options. This treatment replaces the keratin in your hair without disrupting the texture. The process uses heat to rearrange the hair’s keratin chains and leave them smooth without chemically breaking the sulfide bridges.

What to expect when you have this treatment

The whole treatment will take at least 2 ½ hours and requires a number of steps that can’t be rushed, so please bear this in mind when making your appointment. But don’t worry, you’ll get plenty of cups of tea!

The first thing we will do is assess the length and condition of your hair, discuss with you the look you are trying to achieve and what treatment method will be best for your particular hair type.

We’ll then get on with the treatment. First we’ll prepare your hair by cleansing it with a special pH-balanced cleansing shampoo. Your hair will then be ready for us to apply the Keratin solution.

Aftercare

To make sure you get the very best results that will last up to 3 months, you should avoid washing your hair for 2 – 3 days (48 hours minimum).

It is also very important to use the correct, sulphate-free products after the treatment, to ensure your results last for up to 3 months. Using products that contain sulphates will break down the Keratin that has been added to your hair and reverse the results.

Your stylist will advise you on the best products for your hair type at the end of your treatment.

Long-term results

This is a progressive treatment, so although one treatment will give you fantastic results, if you have the treatment regularly, the results will be even more effective and longer lasting. We recommend having the treatment every 3 months initially and then upon recommendation as hair progresses.
